Antoinette Castro was born in London and read Pure Mathematics at RHBNC. She continued her studies in photography. She is now a freelance photographer. Her passion is portraiture, as well as narrative and staged photography.
Antoinette has had a series of her prints exhibited in ´El Ayuntamiento de Arucas´ in Gran Canary and has exhibited in El Ayuntamiento de Adele, Tenerife, Spain. Her image has been published by the NG. The Cloud Appreciation Society in the UK, has published her work and used her image as backdrop in their Google Zeitgeist Talk in the ´Festival Arizona´, as well as their 2015 Calendar. She has taken on private assignments, including book covers and her photographs have been used in other publications. A series of her prints and photobook were exhibited in the ´Companion Print Exhibition and Open International Book Exhibition 2016´, at the Espacio Gallery, London, organised by the Royal Photographic Society. She was shortlisted by the RPS in their ´Review of the Year 2016` Competition as well as their International Print Exhibition 160. She was awarded a winning placement in the 2017 Tokyo International Foto Awards, as gold winner for the Category of Portfolio-Personal, for her entry “She has Flown”. Awarded an Honorable Mention by the PX3 Prix de la Photographie Paris 2017, her untitled image. BJP´s editor´s pick for Open Walls Arles. She was awarded a wining placement in the 2018 Tokyo International Foto Awards, as bronze winner for the category of People-portrait for her entry “Finding her Identity” as well as a Bronze award by the Moscow International Foto Awards 2019, for her entry ´Lost in a Forest´, under the category Fine Art/Special Effects.
